Instructions
Apple Cider Sangria
Wash apples. Core and chop them into small pieces or thick slices. Place into a large bowl and toss with juice from one large lemon.
Add chopped apples, oranges and cinnamon sticks to a large pouring pitcher or drink dispenser.
Pour in white wine, apple cider and brandy. Stir to combine.
Refrigerate overnight or for a minimum of 2-4 hours. This helps the flavors marry.
Mix in lemon-lime soda, ginger ale or club soda right prior to serving.
Serve in glasses with ice cubes.
Dip tops of glasses into water, then into a shallow dish or small bowl of raw sugar for a festive look.
Garnish glasses with more chunks of red and green apples, oranges and a cinnamon stick, if desired.
Notes
Apple Cider Sangria
Tossing the apples with lemon juice will help prevent them from browning. There is no need to drain any excess lemon juice, as it will only add to the flavors of the sangria. We love using Granny Smith apples and Honeycrisp, Cortland, McIntosh or Macoun apples. This gives you a pretty look with red and green apple chunks.Find apple cider from a local apple orchard. OR locate it in the refrigerated section in the produce section at most grocery stores. The longer you are able to let sangria sit, the more intense the flavors will be. Make ahead and refrigerate overnight. This lets the fruit soak up the wine and intensifies the flavor.Add soda prior to serving, or it will not be fizzy. If hosting a party, make a big batch. Add ice cubes to the drink dispenser to keep it well-chilled.
