Ingredients

Caramelized Onions

  • 2 large sweet onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Roast Beef Sliders

  • 9 slices roast beef
  • 9 slices American cheese or Cheddar Cheese (or another cheese)
  • Mayonnaise to taste
  • 1 package King's Hawaiian Slider Buns
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing buns)

Instructions

Caramelized Onions

  • In a large cast iron skillet, heat the oil and butter over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot and butter melted, add the sliced onions.
  • Stir the onions occasionally with a wooden spoon. Continue to cook over medium heat until the onions are translucent.
  • Turn the heat down to low to medium heat. Cook for about 30 minutes. Or until the onions are soft and nicely golden brown in color. Add the brown sugar, salt and pepper. Season with Worcestershire sauce. Remove from the heat.

Roast Beef Sliders

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Place the bottom halves of the buns on a half sheet pan. Spread lightly with mayonnaise.
  • Top each bun with a slice of roast beef. Spoon caramelized onions over the roast beef. Top with slices of cheese. Brush the tops of the rolls with butter.
  • Cover entire sheet pan with aluminum foil. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Uncover and bake until the cheese is melted, about 7-10 minutes.
  • Let cool a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Roast Beef Sliders:

I use rare roast beef from the deli. As you are cooking these.
Use whatever cheese you prefer.
To spice these up a bit, try using Horseradish mayo!
Get creative, after brushing the tops of buns with melted butter. Add grated Parmesan cheese and fresh chopped herbs (such as rosemary)
