How to cook BBQ Ribs in the Oven:
Step 1: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. At one end of the ribs, slide a sharp knife under the membrane and over a bone. Grab the edge of the membrane with a dry paper towel and pull it off with your hands. The membrane may come off in one piece, or you may have to remove it in smaller pieces.
Step 2: Line a half sheet pan with aluminum foil. Season the ribs with brown sugar, salt, and black pepper.
Step 3: Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Cook the ribs for 1 ½ hours to 2 hours in the oven, until the ribs are tender. Finish them on the grill over low heat for about 30 minutes. Baste with barbecue sauce and turn frequently as they cook on the grill.

Step 2: Grill for about 1 ½ to 2 hours over indirect heat until ribs are tender. Use tongs to turn the ribs about every 20 minutes or so.
Step 3: In a glass measuring cup, combine barbecue sauce with balsamic dressing. Baste the ribs during the last 30 minutes or so and cook over direct heat, on low. Carefully watch the ribs so they do not burn. Use tongs to turn the ribs frequently and baste with additional barbecue sauce as they finish cooking.

I like the idea of adding more BBQ sauce as you cook them. I always feel like when I have tried to do ribs in the past that they have been a little light ion the sauce. I’ll have to give that a try next time I cook some on the grill to make sure that they have enough BBQ sauce on them since I like to have them absolutely smothered in it.
