Fall has officially arrived. Winter is right around the corner. This fall I will be sharing many Autumn inspired recipes and simplistic table settings. Apples are at their peak season right now. So many great varieties like Honey Crisp, Macoun and Macintosh offer wonderful flavor and bake really well. One of my favorite things to make this fall is Apple Cider doughnuts- rolled in cinnamon sugar. They are super simple to make and offer a old-fashioned feeling to your dinner party or even quick snack to pair with mulled cider or hot coffee.
I’m all about homemade. My freezer is stocked with berries we bought at farmer’s markets throughout summer- just waiting to be created into a homemade jam or preserve. They will make wonderful and thoughtful teachers gifts. Don’t forget the bus driver, he or she is the one that keeps your children safe and sound while traveling to and from school. Unsung heroes.
Backyard Autumn Entertaining is made simple with this table setting. Using things I had and only adding a few new elements. I picked a few branches of Nandina fr om our yard. (which is a bamboo native that’s leaves turn beautiful shades of mauve and has various colors of clusters of berries come fall. I had a bag of small honey crisp apples that we got from Walmart and scattered them around the table, clustered in odd numbers. Then added a rustic looking brown Kraft tag to my homemade jam from Hobby Lobby.
